Rainforest Adventure Meets Rural Costa Rica

Head into the mountains from Manuel Antonio to a small rural cooperative created by local families to protect their rainforest and share their community through sustainable tourism.

Walk through primary rainforest and cross some of the area’s highest hanging bridges, with incredible views into the canopy and plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. The trail eventually leads to the real showstopper—a 120-foot waterfall hidden deep in the rainforest, with time to swim, cool off and take it all in.

Then we leave the jungle behind and head to the home of our friend Doña Corona, one of the cooperative’s founders. She’ll welcome you with a homemade Costa Rican lunch, local fruits, stories from the community, and a wander through her medicinal garden.

Before heading home, try your hand at pressing sugar cane with a traditional trapiche—and, of course, taste the fresh juice.
