Meet Cara
Founder, Luna Vida Adventures
A lifelong traveler and passionate connector, Cara was raised across the U.S., Japan, and Switzerland, and later made her home in Ecuador and Costa Rica after university. For over two decades, she thrived in the world of active travel, working with the industry’s top company while embracing the beauty and rhythm of life in Costa Rica — where she met her husband, Leo, and is now raising their two children.
Cara’s life is a continuous pursuit of balance — between family, career, and meaningful relationships. She believes deeply in the power of nature and travel to help women, families, and couples reconnect with themselves and each other. Her mission is to create spaces where people feel supported, inspired, and free to thrive.
Luna Vida is the realization of that vision — a place where adventure, wellness, and community come together to create unforgettable experiences.
When she’s not working or parenting, Cara is likely cycling, surfing, or gathering friends for shared meals and spontaneous dance parties in her home.

Meet Doña Corona
Doña Corona is one of the warmest souls you’ll ever meet. With a radiant smile and a welcoming hug, she opens her home and heart to everyone who visits. Her home-cooked meals nourish more than just your body — they feed your soul.
Step into her lush medicinal garden, where every plant has a purpose and a story. Whether you’re curious about traditional rainforest remedies or simply seeking peace, her garden offers both knowledge and serenity.
Her husband, Don Victor, adds his own charm — serenading guests with heartfelt songs and sharing laughter that fills the air. Their rustic, love-filled home is a beautiful reminder that joy is found in simplicity, connection, and living close to the land.
A visit with Doña Corona and Victor is more than a stop — it’s an unforgettable experience.
Meet Leo
Leo is Cara’s husband and her partner in life, work, fun, and everything in between. With over 20 years of experience as a rafting guide and naturalist in the area, Leo brings a rare combination of deep knowledge, sharp wit, and boundless enthusiasm to every adventure.
He’s a natural storyteller — the kind who can make you laugh, think, and see the world a little differently. Driven by a love for nature, people, and wild ideas, Leo is always ready with a helping hand or an inspired plan.
Whether he's navigating rivers, leading hikes, or simply sharing his love for Costa Rica, Leo is a vital and vibrant part of Luna Vida — and a guide you won’t forget.
Meet Doña Luz
When you step into Doña Luz’s humble home, you’re immediately greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of her wood-fired cooking — some of the best cuisine you’ll find in the area. Her handmade tortillas are legendary, and if you’re lucky, she might just show you how to make them yourself.
She wraps every meal in warmth and care, finishing with a cup of strong, delicious coffee that perfectly caps off the experience. While she may be a little shy at first, a kind word or smile opens the door to her gentle, welcoming spirit.
Dining with Doña Luz isn’t just a meal — it’s an unforgettable experience, rich in flavor, tradition, and heart.
